Default Get rid of US and European districts.

Hi,

Since European and American players can interact freely, I've noticed that a lot of players go to the US districts since the English population or even the general population is higher. This started for trading reasons and for finding people to play with at odd hours here in Europe.

Now, since the HoH has no bonuses for continents anymore, it seems that the point in having US and European (and even Asian I might add) districts.
Why not just have language districts?
If a lot of the European English speakers are going to the US districts now you may aswell accept it and it saves you on selecting districts.

Also, I would think that in the US there may be a fair amount of Spanish speakers who may be interested in a Spanish speaking district without having to travel to the European districts.
So there's my idea.

Leave well enough alone. If its not broke dont fix it.

I like the Euro districts. They are alot more calmer than the American districts.

You do know that each regional district has its own datacenter, so what you're basically asking is to use the International District datacenter for the US and EU datacenter for English speaking people.

No thanks, I don't want lag forced on me and a ton of other people.

Current system. like if we would just have 1 english disctrict, it would cause huge lag and server host would be there wherest most ppl (america probably?) and it would cause lag for european players

to alot of people the districts doesnt matter, but for another couple of players it does. They have worse ping/ms in america for example, and so on.

And i prefer to cruise around in the european dists.

/notsign but i see ur point

no, many people like European for the fewer amount of ppl and less lag... it would be very impractical to mess around with servers at this point anyways.

/signed. I'm in australia, so i get rotten ping no matter which district. I get slightly better ping in Europe servers, but there's more people in American, so if I need a team I always go there. The ping difference in really quite negligible.

That's a problem.

Not everyone in Europe speaks English. That's why Europe has five different districts for the most spoken languages.

I find there to be significant differences between the two in player behavior, namely that it's often easier to find a group on the American servers (I live in New York on the east coast so that's when I'm playing) however the average European player is far more respectful and fun to play with. You can't count on an American PUG not to have one death and call it quits, having half the group ragequit out.

/notsigned because European servers > American servers xD

Are the EU servers actually physically separate from the International servers? I get the same 150-250 ping playing on either.

(and I've got a 100MBit connection)

Yes, they're located in a different place in EU IIRC.

I guess I'll /sign. This would also take a little financial burden off of Anet in GW1 with having to host less servers. If you like calmer districts, then just go to the Polish or Russian or Italian districts, I don't think I've ever encountered 1 person while playing those.

Honestly, the International district holds no purpose or use anymore since you can visit all districts freely.
